yawning beagles

Part of the Mother/Artist series

Yawning Beagles is about personal struggle, loss, love, and fate, seen through a lens of whimsical dark humor that could only be conjured on the other side of a year-long existential crisis. The ambiguous and surreal narrative is a personal construction yet alludes to universal metaphors and ancient myths, such as the Chinese symbology of the Red String of Fate, and the Medieval superstition of losing one’s soul by yawning. My totems on this year-long journey were a pair of yawning beagles, happened upon by chance or fate, at different times and places. They haunted my dreams, and inspired this series.
